Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market

September 17, 2014
Hi Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

How about this weather?

The weather is perfect for grilling and we have all that you need to enjoy an outdoor meal on the grill.

So, invite your friends and family over and prepare an assortment of seafood on the grill and give them a great surprise that they’ll never forget.

Not only is it easy, I find it creative and a lot of fun to put all this together.

A variety of different seafood makes it so everyone gets an opportunity to try different seafood they might not have had in the past.

For those of you that have not tried this before, I find it easy to prepare. By forming an aluminum foil tray that is fitted for your grill, I’ll try to find all the vegetables that works great with a good variety of seafood to combine with.

I cut up all my vegetables along with peeled and deveined shrimp, crab meat, grouper, tuna, calamari rings, clams, mussels. (You can add much more but this is the basics)

You can add chicken and sausage if you want some additional items for the possible land lover.

I marinate my seafood before cooking and I use balsamic vinegar, olive oil, soy sauce, Worchester sauce, garlic and herbs and Cajun spices.

Start cooking your vegetables and then toss in your seafood medley and cover with an aluminum foil and allow the combined vegetables and seafood to steam itself complete.

I also make a pot of rice for everyone and I scoop my wonderful seafood and vegetables mixture and pour it over my rice on my plate.(The juices are unbelievable)

This will be a meal you won’t forget. Simple and very little clean up.

I hope you’ll try it out soon and if you need any other tips, just come on in and we’ll go over it with you.

We’re making Seafood Kabobs every day for our customers and if you are in need, please let us know and we’ll be happy to make some for you. It only take a few minutes and it eliminates you from having to deal with it if your time is running tight.

_____________________________________________________________

Well, nothing really overly exciting going on this time of year except maybe “FOOTBALL”.

So…. what we have planned for everyone this year is to make sure that we continue to have plenty of cooked shrimp prepared for everyone and ready for planned games and last minute pickup. We are also preparing Seafood Kabobs for those who would like to make it easy on themselves. During half time, place your Kabobs on the grill and they’ll be ready for the second half of the game. They are ready for the grill and you can call in ahead and special order them or you can just walk in and we’ll make them for you as you wait.

Our Kabobs will definetly satisfy you. They are loaded down and ready for the grill.

Along with the Kabobs, we’ll be bringing in lot of real popular grilling seafood and if there is anything special you would like, please let me know a few days in advance and I will do my majic in bringing it in for you. Just let us know.

One of the most popular items in our store is our Cajun Crab Dip.

Our crab dip has real Crab meat in it’s mixture and the flavor is addicting. We really recommend trying some because if you don’t, everyone else is and your really missing out.

So, Crab Dip, Seasoned cooked shrimp and Seafood Kabobs are what we have ready for you for the games this weekend.

We also have oysters in the shell, premade Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettoufee, Shrimp Creole and many other items that will make your dinner or appetizers during the games a little easier for you.

Our pre-made Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettouffee and Shrimp Creole come available in 30 oz tubs or 4# trays. Real simple to heat and all you’ll need to provide is the rice. 20 minute meal and that’s it!

Just below on the newsletter, you will find a pretty good list of the most popular fish we will be keeping in stock for this week.

If you don’t see your fish on the list, it doesn’t mean we don’t have it.

Special new item for our store: TUPELO HONEY

100% PURE, RAW, UNHEATED AND UNFILTERED.

NEVER CRYSTALIZES AND IS ALSO RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES. THE BEST TASTING HONEY THAT I HAVE EVER HAD.

TUPELO HONEY IS AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET TO REACHING INTO A BEEHIVE AND SCOOPING IT OUT YOURSELF.

This honey is from the Tupelo trees in Wewahitchka Fla.

I visited the Honey Farmers while in Florida and picked up cases of Tupelo Honey for every one to enjoy. I even have honey jars with the honeycomb in it.

This Honey is very special and is only harvested two weeks out of the year. The bees get their nectar from the Tupelo Trees flowers and are 100% Pure Tupelo Honey.

The Tupelo Trees grow along the Apalachicola River and the Chipola River basins in the panhandle of Florida.

I know you will enjoy it so come on by and check it out.

For a wonderful marinade for meaty fish on the grill, I love to mix my honey with soy sauce and pineapple juice. I have plenty for everyone to enjoy, so come get some.

Also for those who might have some interest in older films, the movie “Ulee’s Gold” 1997 with Peter Fonda and many other actors was made based on the area where they farmed the honey.

It’s a good story and it’s about the Tupelo Honey. Also, Van Morrison sings the song “Tupelo Honey”.

Pretty interesting.

**Our honey has been a big hit and when I came back from Florida I brought back with me seven cases of Tupelo Honey three weeks ago, we have only about a case and a half left.

I’ll be ordering more real soon.

Once again, this isn’t your standard honey. It is special in many ways.

Once you taste this honey, you’ll immediately taste the difference.

20 lbs of Cheeks arriving in the morning from Alaska!!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

The weather at the end of this week is supposedly trying to cool down for the first time in a long time. Temperatures are suppose to be in the low eighties with some possible rain on Thursday and Friday. The forcast for Saturday shows that it should be cooler temperatures around 75 degrees. We’ll see how accurate the meteorologist is this week with me repeating what I have seen. Alot of our customers do a lot of outdoor planning and it’s not fun when the weather report is wrong and spoils the plans.

Hey everyone! This is the time of year that many of our customers just can’t find time to sit down and have a quality dinner with the family. We truly understand and I have been in that situation many times over the years.

Every year I try to let our customers know that we appreciate your support throughout the year but we have so many seasonal customers that when it comes to this time of the year, many of the seasonal customers just don’t show up at all at our store.(They are waiting for the crawfish season to kick in)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I try to throw specials as often as I can and where ever I can help keep the cost down for every one, I’ll do my best.

With fuel prices driving up cost on many items, I try to bring in seafood that I can offer the lowest prices on so I can help in making your dinner more affordable.

So, with this being our slowest time of the year, all I can ask is if we see you as often as we can, I’ll be happy with that!

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday this past weekend. We definitely had a busy weekend at the store thanks to all of you that came by. We had a lot of fresh seafood going out the door and we made up quite a few Seafood Kabobs for many customers to enjoy. The Kabob program has been fun and it has a lot of customers coming back for more. If it makes it easy for you, that’s what we are all about.

With the summer winding down and no special events happening anytime soon, we look to encourage our customers to think about being healthy and trying to work in a special seafood dinner for the family at least once a week. I know we have many customers coming in more than once a week but we also understand that the activities that families are involved in keeps families from having a good sit down dinner as often as they want. With all the special after school activities and getting home late, it’s difficult to have a healthy meal all the time.

So, with this being our slowest time of the year, all I can ask is if we see you as often as we can, I’ll be happy with that!

For many of our new customers, we are open every day of the week. We only close on Christmas day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day.

SEAFOOD KABOBS:

The promotion on the Kabobs went real good again this past weekend. We hoped everyone enjoyed them.

We will make them on a weekend basis as long as everyone enjoys them.

Please remember, we can eliminate the extra work in making the Kabobs for you. We’ll prepare them while you wait or you can call your order in. We’ll make any combo you want as long as it is a item that will not fall apart on the skewer.

Give it a try if you want something delicious and simple.

** This week, we will be making fresh Seafood Kabobs for you to take home and place on the grill and to really enjoy. The seafood on the Kabobs will be a variety of the best that we have.

Please check with us and if you want something specially made, just let us know.

All Kabobs are priced out by the pound for whatever seafood we make them with. (No vegetables)

As an example, here’s what some of the Kabobs will have on them:

Sea Bass, Wahoo, Amberjack and grouper.

Or Grouper, Swordfish, Monster Shrimp and Scallops.

Also, Shrimp, Halibut, Mahi, Sea bass, Swordfish.

You can get any combo you want including Shark, Salmon, basically anything you want as long as it fits on the wood skewer.

One of my favorites is using: Cobia, Seabass, Shrimp, grouper and tuna.

I love it and I do the light teriyaki seasoning on it.

The Kabobs have been real popular and you can look to see what we have and we’ll make them in the store while you are waiting or you can call your order in and it’ll be waiting for you.

Basically, any combo of good grilling seafood you want and it’s priced the same as buying it from the seafood case and doing it yourself.

So for pricing, it’s based on what you select and how much you want us to put on the Kabobs for you. It’s all priced by weight.

Also, we will be marinating some of the ones we make for the display. Usually, it’s a light teriyaki marinade with a little kick to it.

Call us if you want us to make them for you.

We’ll be waiting for your call.

Great idea for the weekend! Simple as can be.

NEWSLETTER 8-14-14

Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market

August 14, 2014
Hi Everyone!!!
For all my new customers that came by the store last week, we appreciate you stopping by. I wanted to let you know that this newsletter usually goes out to everyone on Monday’s but I am out of town this week and next week due to an illness in my family. I was delayed in getting this newsletter sent out this week because of no internet signal where I am staying.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you again, hopefully soon.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer!

We have less than a month left before school starts again.

We notice this time of year when it slows down that many of our customers are taking their vacations and preparing for their children’s new school year.

I know it’s hard to plan a family dinner when their is so much activity going on, especially when school gets rolling.

The next special weekend that we are looking forward to is Labor Day Weekend ( Aug. 30, 31 and Sept.1st) so everyone can enjoy the last Holiday this summer.

Also, there is still a lot of time to get that vacation in before school starts.

****Once again, as the season is still hanging in there for us, I am offering our Special Alaskan King Salmon and Copper River Sockeye at prices that will not be available soon.

It’s amazing how long the season is lasting on the Copper River this year. It sure has helped in making this wonderful salmon available for all of us to enjoy this season.

I spoke with our supplier this morning and they are still catching our Sockeye out of the Copper River.

We’re just waiting to hear from our suppliers that the season has ended.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone get’s an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful tasting fish at the prices we have to offer.

Prices on Alaskan King and the Copper River Sockeye will probably remain the same for the rest of the season. The suppliers told me this that I can keep asking but they don’t seem to want to come down on their prices. This week, I am offering our Alaskan King Salmon and Sockeye at the same price as last week.(King: 19.99 lb and Sockeye: 16.99 lb)

The price I have for everyone is the lowest available price around for Copper River Sockeye and Alaskan King salmon.

As I offer my special prices, I make sure that the supplier knows that my cost can’ go up from them while my promotion is going on so as long a their is cooperation from the suppliers, we can offer low prices.

THIS WEEKS SPECIAL ON ALASKAN COPPER RIVER SOCKEYE AND ALASKAN KING SALMON:

SOCKEYE: 16.99 LB(this weeks special)(COPPER RIVER)

KING: 19.99 LB.

LOWEST PRICES OF THE SEASON!!

Season will be ending soon, so please don’t wait too long.

SOCKEYE: 17.99 LB

KING: 19.99 LB.

All fillets are with skin on and bone out.

At last, the heat of the summer has finally made it!! I bet everyone is excited as I am???? I hope everyone is keeping cool because this past weekend and today seem to be the hottest days we’ve had this summer so far. (Hold on, I’m getting rained on. Wasn’t supposed to happen until Tuesday!) Oh well, we needed it.

From what the weather shows for this week, it looks like some cooler weather with some possible rain during the first part of the week and I can tell you personally, we need some rain and a lot of it!

Hopefully we’ll have another beautiful weekend so everyone can enjoy the outdoors and maybe even get an opportunity to grill out.

This past weekend, we put a lot of emphasis on grilling. We brought in a really nice variety of fresh fish and other seafood for the grill and we had a major turnout so we know that many of you got a chance to enjoy it.

Please view the list below of the delicious fish we will have available this week and also for the weekend.

If you didn’t get the grill out this weekend, here’s what we recommend:

COPPER RIVER SOCKEYE SALMON:

17.99 lb.(this weeks Special)

Season will be ending very soon. I also will be stocking up on vacuumed sealed fillets and freezing them soon. We hope to have enough to keep us stocked until the next season begins.

Other Alaskan Sockeye are becoming available soon and as long as I can keep getting the Copper River Sockeye, I will have the highest available Sockeye for my customers.

Once the Copper River closes, I’ll revert to different rivers in Alaska such as the Kenai River which will be open soon.

Prices tend to come down some when the Copper River Season is closed.

Fillets can average between 1 1/2 to 2 lb each.

We are still getting in approx. three shipments per week, so we will have plenty of fresh until they close off the season on the Copper River.

Each Sockeye Fillet is vacuumed sealed for freshness, so you can keep it in the refrigerator for a few days or you can also freeze it for a later date to eat. The packaging really keeps the fish from being handled wrong or getting bruised and it helps with storing it for a while in the freezer.

Great news!! Alaskan King Salmon: 19.99 LB

We have Plenty of Alaskan King Salmon coming in as needed for our customers.

We recently found a great supplier for Kings and we should be able to offer the King salmon at these even lower prices until the season ends for them. Our competitors can’t find any and we have been able to bring them in every week.

Cost to you on our Fresh Alaskan King Salmon fillets will be: 19.99 lb.

Check prices around town, prices are about 28.99 and up everywhere when they can get it. This fish is fresh, out of the water no more than 1 1/2 days and never frozen. If you do want it frozen, just let us know and we will be more than happy to freeze it for you. We have a lot of customers that request it that way so they can just take the fillet home and stick it in the freezer. You’ll be amazed at the quality and how Wild Salmon freezes better that any fish that I know of. The catch is Very limited so please call to reserve or we might run out just from our walk-ins.

Our fish are caught, taken to the Alaskan Canneries where they fillet and vacuum seal our fish. Pack it and ship it to Dallas by Alaskan Airlines. Our fish are so fresh they were swimming approximately two days ago.

If you have time to reserve your order this really helps in letting us tell the fisherman what we are needing. If the fisherman do not get my numbers, they take all the fish to the canneries and sale it to them. This really does make it easier to sell out and get another fresh shipment in on each of the fishing openings.

CRAWFISH UPDATE:

SEASON IS CLOSED!!

I want to thank each and every customer who either purchased live or cooked crawfish from us this year and in the past.

We feel this year had to be a record year in purchases and we out sold any year in the past.

Thank you again and I can’t wait until next season.

Let’s hope we don’t have the delay due to cold weather next season. We hope to be offering Crawfish on Super Bowl weekend as always.

Thanks again and remember, just because Crawfish season is over for right now doesn’t mean seafood is not on the table.

Think SEAFOOD and stay HEALTHY!!

We are open 7 days a week!!

Take care everyone and I hope to see you soon.

Come on by, we’d love to see your smiling faces!

Thanks!

CRAWFISH UPDATE:
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:
The Crawfish season is basically finished and the few farms that are still operating are doing so just to help anyone that might be needing some when they are so hard to find.

Our problem is that we will not know for sure until this Thursday whether or not any farms are producing any for the weekend.

If you would like to have Crawfish for this Friday or Saturday of this week, you will need to call the store by 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.

If we are able to get any Crawfish, they will only be what ever they catch. Nothing special such as graded and washed will not be available.

SO, IF YOU CALL THURSDAY AFTERNOON OR FRIDAY, YOU’RE TOO LATE.

CALL BY 11:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY TO CONFIRM YOUR ORDER AND THEN WE WILL LET OUR FARMERS KNOW WHAT WE NEED.

WE WILL CALL YOU IF WE CAN NOT COME THROUGH FOR YOU.

Take care everyone and I hope to see you soon.

Come on by, we’d love to see your smiling faces!

Thanks!
