October 7, 2014
Hi Everyone!!!

We had a very busy weekend this past weekend and I want to thank each and everyone for coming in to the store to visit.

There was a lot of really good football games on this past weekend with quite a few upsets and maybe that got everyone all excited and hungry.

We really do appreciate you all very much.

With this being the slow time of the year for our business, your presence sure changes things from the past years compared to the same time this year.

Being that it’s Fair Month and all the special activities that are going on at the same time, I appreciate seeing all of you when you come in to the store.

I am posting most of our products and prices on my web page which you can go directly to by clicking the site below and this helps in keeping the newsletter shorter.

Please visit our web site:

http://captaindavesfreshseafoodmarket.wordpress.com

If you are looking for snacks or hors d’ oeuvre’s for the games this weekend, we always have freshly cooked 16/20 count Peeled and deveined cocktail shrimp. We also have Cajun Crab Dip which everyone thoroughly enjoys and we also have Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Etoufee, and Shrimp Creole that many of our customers love. These come in 30 oz tubs or 4 lb trays. And if you really want a treat, you have to try out my special Hot Smoked Alaskan Sockeye. There is nothing like it in the Metroplex unless you do it yourself.
When I find new seafood items that I know my customers will enjoy, I will always keep you informed. The list of all or most of all our items that we stock has become very lengthy and it is much easier viewing all of it on the web page. I will add the new items to our seafood list as we are sure we will keep them in stock. So, please visit the web site when you need to see a full list of our products.

**New items added to our list:

Breaded Gulf Oysters: 8.99 lb (approx 18-25 per lb)(cornmeal and flour)

Southern Style Hand breaded Catfish fillets: 8.49 lb(4 oz fillets w/cornmeal)

Halibut cheeks: 20.00 a lb. (Limited quantities) Approx 1 lb packages.

With the Halibut season coming to an end around November 15th, today,I secured enough Halibut after the season closes so we have enough Halibut to keep us stocked for two to three months. Prices have gone sky high on Halibut this week and the current cost in Dallas from all the suppliers is more than what I sell to my customers. This is why I do the things I do to keep the cost down as much as I can because the suppliers do not look at it this way.

This is very important to know: There are only a couple of seafood markets in town and if you were to compare my cost with them, you’ll find that everyone is up there on prices for seafood. The few that are around, compete with Central Market and Whole Foods. They are the highest prices in town. Our suppliers truly concentrate on Restaurants and I don’t have to tell you about their selling price. Being that they can get what they want in prices from Restaurants, they don’t care about the rising prices on seafood. So, my job for my customers is to find the highest quality at the lowest price so I can keep cost down for everyone.

We are always looking for great recipes to share with our customers so if you can send us your special recipe, I’ll be happy to post it for all of our customers to enjoy.

Every week, we are making Seafood Kabobs for our customers. If you would like us to make any special for you, just give us a call or come on in and select the seafood you want to be skewered. We have a great selection for you to choose from. It only takes a few minutes and we can have them ready by the time you come to pick them up or we can make them for you while you wait. Remember, whatever the cost is in our seafood case that you select is what you pay. No prep charges just select what you want and we price it out on how much you want on the skewer.

I hope we can make some for you.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying this beautiful weather we’re having lately. The weather has been perfect for out door activities and very nice for grilling out. It looks like we might have a cool down on the weather starting possibly Thursday. At least that’s what the latest weather report is showing but we’ll just have to see. The weekend looks like it’s cooling down some also. So, hopefully many of you can get out and enjoy it.

On an average week, we get quite a few customers calling the store inquiring about things that no one in the seafood industry explains about or if it’s out there it hard to find the information. I want everyone to know that I have an unbelievable network of suppliers with all the information anyone needs. If anyone is in need of information concerning a product or even a recipe that is hard to find. Please do not hesitate in contacting me. I truly enjoy helping and getting you the information you may need.

I want to make sure that everyone is aware of all the special items that we carry every week and if there is something special you might be looking for, please give us a call.

If you are looking to grill out anytime soon, you can always count on us to have a really good selection of great seafood for grilling.

If you plan on cooking inside, we always try to keep a good variety of popular fish and shell fish that work great on the stove top or in the oven.

Most of the fish we carry for indoor cooking are usually skin off and always bone out. But if the fish comes to us with skin on, you have the option to have us remove it for you.

As we get closer to cooler weather, I will always keep Fresh Flounder, Cod, Snapper, Salmon and many other delicious fish in stock for those who cook inside.

I have provided a list of all our seafood on my webpage for your convenience with current pricing. Please visit our web site:

http://captaindavesfreshseafoodmarket.wordpress.com

When I find new seafood items that I know my customers will enjoy, I will always keep you informed. We will add the new items to our seafood list, which has been moved to our web page so it won’t make the newsletter longer than you all want to read. So, please visit the web site when you need to see all or most of everything we keep in stock.

We are always looking for great recipes to share with our customers so if you can send us your special recipe, I’ll be happy to post it for all of our customers to enjoy.

Pretty interesting.

**Our honey has been a big hit and when I came back from Florida I brought back with me seven cases of Tupelo Honey three weeks ago, we have only about a case and a half left.

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

How about this weather?

The weather is perfect for grilling and we have all that you need to enjoy an outdoor meal on the grill.

So, invite your friends and family over and prepare an assortment of seafood on the grill and give them a great surprise that they’ll never forget.

Not only is it easy, I find it creative and a lot of fun to put all this together.

A variety of different seafood makes it so everyone gets an opportunity to try different seafood they might not have had in the past.

For those of you that have not tried this before, I find it easy to prepare. By forming an aluminum foil tray that is fitted for your grill, I’ll try to find all the vegetables that works great with a good variety of seafood to combine with.

I cut up all my vegetables along with peeled and deveined shrimp, crab meat, grouper, tuna, calamari rings, clams, mussels. (You can add much more but this is the basics)

You can add chicken and sausage if you want some additional items for the possible land lover.

I marinate my seafood before cooking and I use balsamic vinegar, olive oil, soy sauce, Worchester sauce, garlic and herbs and Cajun spices.

Start cooking your vegetables and then toss in your seafood medley and cover with an aluminum foil and allow the combined vegetables and seafood to steam itself complete.

I also make a pot of rice for everyone and I scoop my wonderful seafood and vegetables mixture and pour it over my rice on my plate.(The juices are unbelievable)

This will be a meal you won’t forget. Simple and very little clean up.

I hope you’ll try it out soon and if you need any other tips, just come on in and we’ll go over it with you.

We’re making Seafood Kabobs every day for our customers and if you are in need, please let us know and we’ll be happy to make some for you. It only take a few minutes and it eliminates you from having to deal with it if your time is running tight.

_____________________________________________________________

Well, nothing really overly exciting going on this time of year except maybe “FOOTBALL”.

So…. what we have planned for everyone this year is to make sure that we continue to have plenty of cooked shrimp prepared for everyone and ready for planned games and last minute pickup. We are also preparing Seafood Kabobs for those who would like to make it easy on themselves. During half time, place your Kabobs on the grill and they’ll be ready for the second half of the game. They are ready for the grill and you can call in ahead and special order them or you can just walk in and we’ll make them for you as you wait.

Our Kabobs will definetly satisfy you. They are loaded down and ready for the grill.

Along with the Kabobs, we’ll be bringing in lot of real popular grilling seafood and if there is anything special you would like, please let me know a few days in advance and I will do my majic in bringing it in for you. Just let us know.

One of the most popular items in our store is our Cajun Crab Dip.

Our crab dip has real Crab meat in it’s mixture and the flavor is addicting. We really recommend trying some because if you don’t, everyone else is and your really missing out.

So, Crab Dip, Seasoned cooked shrimp and Seafood Kabobs are what we have ready for you for the games this weekend.

We also have oysters in the shell, premade Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettoufee, Shrimp Creole and many other items that will make your dinner or appetizers during the games a little easier for you.

Our pre-made Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettouffee and Shrimp Creole come available in 30 oz tubs or 4# trays. Real simple to heat and all you’ll need to provide is the rice. 20 minute meal and that’s it!

Just below on the newsletter, you will find a pretty good list of the most popular fish we will be keeping in stock for this week.

If you don’t see your fish on the list, it doesn’t mean we don’t have it.

Give us a call and we’ll make sure we secure it for you if it’s available.

Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market
September 10, 2014

Hi Everyone!!!

(Special this week: Fresh from Alaska on Thursday)

FRESH HALIBUT CHEEKS: 20.00 per lb limited amount available.

20 lbs of Cheeks arriving in the morning from Alaska!!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Our crab dip has real King Crab meat in it’s mixture and the flavor is addicting.

The weather at the end of this week is supposedly trying to cool down for the first time in a long time. Temperatures are suppose to be in the low eighties with some possible rain on Thursday and Friday. The forcast for Saturday shows that it should be cooler temperatures around 75 degrees. We’ll see how accurate the meteorologist is this week with me repeating what I have seen. Alot of our customers do a lot of outdoor planning and it’s not fun when the weather report is wrong and spoils the plans.

Hey everyone! This is the time of year that many of our customers just can’t find time to sit down and have a quality dinner with the family. We truly understand and I have been in that situation many times over the years.

Every year I try to let our customers know that we appreciate your support throughout the year but we have so many seasonal customers that when it comes to this time of the year, many of the seasonal customers just don’t show up at all at our store.(They are waiting for the crawfish season to kick in)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I try to throw specials as often as I can and where ever I can help keep the cost down for every one, I’ll do my best.

With fuel prices driving up cost on many items, I try to bring in seafood that I can offer the lowest prices on so I can help in making your dinner more affordable.

So, with this being our slowest time of the year, all I can ask is if we see you as often as we can, I’ll be happy with that!

For those who do not know our operating hours, especially our newer customers, we are open every day of the week. We only close on Christmas day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day.

Further down the newsletter you will find a pretty good list of the most popular fish we will be keeping in stock for this week.

If you don’t see your fish on the list, it doesn’t mean we don’t have it.

Give us a call and we’ll make sure we secure it for you if it’s available.

We are preparing Seafood Kabobs on a daily basis and this new program has worked out great for a lot of our customers.

If you’ll let us know what you need, we can prepare them for you in advance.( below is more info on the Kabobs)

Our Tupelo Honey did real good again this week. For those of you that don’t know about this wonderful honey, read more on the internet and you’ll find that this is the purest of all honey’s.

Special new item for our store: TUPELO HONEY

100% PURE, RAW, UNHEATED AND UNFILTERD.

NEVER CRYSTALIZES AND IS ALSO RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES. THE BEST TASTING HONEY THAT I HAVE EVER HAD.

TUPELO HONEY IS AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET TO REACHING INTO A BEEHIVE AND SCOOPING IT OUT YOURSELF. THAT IS A SAYING THAT OUR HONEY FARMERS HAVE TOLD ME.

This honey is from the Tupelo trees in Wewahitchka Fla.

I visited the Honey Farmers while in Florida and picked up cases of Tupelo Honey for every one to enjoy. I even have honey jars with the honeycomb in it.

This Honey is very special and is only harvested two weeks out of the year. The bees get their nectar from the Tupelo Trees flowers and are 100% Pure Tupelo Honey.

The Tupelo Trees grow along the Apalachicola River and the Chipola River basins in the panhandle of Florida.

I know you will enjoy it so come on by and check it out.

I also love to mix my honey with soy sauce and pineapple juice for a great marinade on fish. I have plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Also for those who might have some interest in older films, the movie “Ulee’s Gold” 1997 with Peter Fonda and many other actors was made based on the area where they farmed the honey.

It’s a good story and it’s about the Tupelo Honey. Also, Van Morrison sings the song “Tupelo Honey”.

Pretty interesting.

** I spoke with my Copper River Sockeye Supplier today and they are telling me that the new rivers they are catching their Sockeye Salmon in will keep us stocked for a few more weeks.

This is the first year I have ever experienced the Wild Sockeye season lasting this long. I brought in a lot of Sockeye and also King Salmon twice this week and I am expecting a big shipment to arrive from Alaska on Friday or Saturday this week.

The whole fish is being shipped to my Seafood supplier in Dallas and they fillet and vacuum seal each fillet for us and they also debone all of our fillets.

This is the top of the line process and it makes it so you truly have a hassle free dinner. You can also freeze the package and have the salmon for a later date.

Prices have came down a dollar per pound on the Copper River Sockeye last week and this price will remain the same for this week.

Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market

September 3, 2014

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday this past weekend. We definitely had a busy weekend at the store thanks to all of you that came by. We had a lot of fresh seafood going out the door and we made up quite a few Seafood Kabobs for many customers to enjoy. The Kabob program has been fun and it has a lot of customers coming back for more. If it makes it easy for you, that’s what we are all about.

With the summer winding down and no special events happening anytime soon, we look to encourage our customers to think about being healthy and trying to work in a special seafood dinner for the family at least once a week. I know we have many customers coming in more than once a week but we also understand that the activities that families are involved in keeps families from having a good sit down dinner as often as they want. With all the special after school activities and getting home late, it’s difficult to have a healthy meal all the time.

So, with this being our slowest time of the year, all I can ask is if we see you as often as we can, I’ll be happy with that!

For many of our new customers, we are open every day of the week. We only close on Christmas day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day.
