Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market

September 10, 2014

Hi Everyone!!!

(Special this week: Fresh from Alaska on Thursday)

FRESH HALIBUT CHEEKS: 20.00 per lb limited amount available.

20 lbs of Cheeks arriving in the morning from Alaska!!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Well, nothing really overly exciting going on this time of year except maybe “FOOTBALL”.

So…. what we have planned for everyone this year is to make sure that we continue to have plenty of cooked shrimp prepared for everyone and ready for planned games and last minute pickup. We are also preparing Seafood Kabobs for those who would like to make it easy on themselves. During half time, place your Kabobs on the grill and they’ll be ready for the second half of the game. They are ready for the grill and you can call in ahead and special order them or you can just walk in and we’ll make them for you as you wait.

Our Kabobs will definetly satisfy you. They are loaded down and ready for the grill.

Along with the Kabobs, we’ll be bringing in lot of real popular grilling seafood and if there is anything special you would like, please let me know a few days in advance and I will do my majic in bringing it in for you. Just let us know.

One of the most popular items in our store is our Cajun Crab Dip.

Our crab dip has real King Crab meat in it’s mixture and the flavor is addicting. We really recommend trying some because if you don’t, everyone else is and your really missing out.

So, Crab Dip, Seasoned cooked shrimp and Seafood Kabobs are what we have ready for you for the games this weekend.

We also have oysters in the shell, premade Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettoufee, Shrimp Creole and many other items that will make your dinner or appetizers  during the games a little easier for you.

Our pre-made Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Ettouffee and Shrimp Creole come available in 30 oz tubs or 4# trays. Real simple to heat and all you’ll need to provide is the rice.

The weather at the end of this week is supposedly trying to cool down for the first time in a long time. Temperatures are suppose to be in the low eighties with some possible rain on Thursday and Friday. The forcast for Saturday shows that it should be cooler temperatures around 75 degrees. We’ll see how accurate the meteorologist is this week with me repeating what I have seen. Alot of our customers do a lot of outdoor planning and it’s not fun when the weather report is wrong and spoils the plans.

Hey everyone! This is the time of year that many of our customers just can’t find time to sit down and have a quality dinner with the family. We truly understand and I have been in that situation many times over the years.

Every year I try to let our customers know that we appreciate your support throughout the year but we have so many seasonal customers that when it comes to this time of the year, many of the seasonal customers just don’t show up at all at our store.(They are waiting for the crawfish season to kick in)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I try to throw specials as often as I can and where ever I can help keep the cost down for every one, I’ll do my best.

With fuel prices driving up cost on many items, I try to bring in seafood that I can offer the lowest prices on so I can help in making your dinner more affordable.

So, with this being our slowest time of the year, all I can ask is if we see you as often as we can, I’ll be happy with that!

For those who do not know our operating hours, especially our newer customers, we are open every day of the week. We only close on Christmas day, New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day.

Further down the newsletter you will find a pretty good list of the most popular fish we will be keeping in stock for this week.

If you don’t see your fish on the list, it doesn’t mean we don’t have it.

Give us a call and we’ll make sure we secure it for you if it’s available.

We are preparing Seafood Kabobs on a daily basis and this new program has worked out great for a lot of our customers.

If you’ll let us know what you need, we can prepare them for you in advance.( below is more info on the Kabobs)

Our Tupelo Honey did real good again this week. For those of you that don’t know about this wonderful honey, read more on the internet and you’ll find that this is the purest of all honey’s.

Special new item for our store: TUPELO HONEY

100% PURE, RAW, UNHEATED AND UNFILTERD.

NEVER CRYSTALIZES AND IS ALSO RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES. THE BEST TASTING HONEY THAT I HAVE EVER HAD.

TUPELO HONEY IS AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET TO REACHING INTO A BEEHIVE AND SCOOPING IT OUT YOURSELF. THAT IS A SAYING THAT OUR HONEY FARMERS HAVE TOLD ME.

This honey is from the Tupelo trees in Wewahitchka Fla.

I visited the Honey Farmers while in Florida and picked up cases of Tupelo Honey for every one to enjoy. I even have honey jars with the honeycomb in it.

This Honey is very special and is only harvested two weeks out of the year. The bees get their nectar from the Tupelo Trees flowers and are 100% Pure Tupelo Honey.

The Tupelo Trees grow along the Apalachicola River and the Chipola River basins in the panhandle of Florida.

I know you will enjoy it so come on by and check it out.

I also love to mix my honey with soy sauce and pineapple juice for a great marinade on fish. I have plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Also for those who might have some interest in older films, the movie “Ulee’s Gold” 1997 with Peter Fonda and many other actors was made based on the area where they farmed the honey.

It’s a good story and it’s about the Tupelo Honey. Also, Van Morrison sings the song “Tupelo Honey”.

Pretty interesting.

** I spoke with my Copper River Sockeye Supplier today and they are telling me that the new rivers they are catching their Sockeye Salmon in will keep us stocked for a few more weeks.

This is the first year I have ever experienced the Wild Sockeye season lasting this long. I brought in a lot of Sockeye and also King Salmon twice this week and I am expecting a big shipment to arrive from Alaska on Friday or Saturday this week.

The whole fish is being shipped to my Seafood supplier in Dallas and they fillet and vacuum seal each fillet for us and they also debone all of our fillets.

This is the top of the line process and it makes it so you truly have a hassle free dinner. You can also freeze the package and have the salmon for a later date.

Prices have came down a dollar per pound on the Copper River Sockeye last week and this price will remain the same for this week.

THIS WEEKS SPECIAL ON ALASKAN COPPER RIVER SOCKEYE AND ALASKAN KING SALMON:

SOCKEYE: 15.99 LB(this weeks special)(COPPER RIVER)

SEAFOOD KABOBS:

The promotion on the Kabobs went real good again this past weekend. We hoped everyone enjoyed them.

We will make them on a weekend basis as long as everyone enjoys them.

Please remember, we can eliminate the extra work in making the Kabobs for you. We’ll prepare them while you wait or you can call your order in. We’ll make any combo you want as long as it is a item that will not fall apart on the skewer.

Give it a try if you want something delicious and simple.

** This week, we will be making fresh Seafood Kabobs for you to take home and place on the grill and to really enjoy. The seafood on the Kabobs will be a variety of the best that we have.

Please check with us and if you want something specially made, just let us know.

All Kabobs are priced out by the pound for whatever seafood we make them with. (No vegetables)

As an example, here’s what some of the Kabobs will have on them:

Sea Bass, Wahoo, Amberjack and grouper.

Or Grouper, Swordfish, Monster Shrimp and Scallops.

Also, Shrimp, Halibut, Mahi, Sea bass, Swordfish.

You can get any combo you want as long as it fits on the wood skewer.

One of my favorites is using: Cobia, Seabass, Shrimp, grouper and tuna.

I love it and I do the light teriyaki seasoning on it.

The Kabobs have been real popular and you can look to see what we have or we’ll make them in the store while you are waiting or you can call your order in and it’ll be waiting for you.

Basically, any combo of good grilling seafood you want and it’s priced the same as buying it from the seafood case and doing it yourself.

So for pricing, it’s based on what you select and how much you want us to put on the Kabobs for you. It’s all priced by weight.

Also, we will be marinating some of the ones we make for the display. Usually, it’s a light teriyaki marinade with a little kick to it.

Call us if you want us to make them for you.

We’ll be waiting for your call.

Great idea for the weekend! Simple as can be.

Stay Healthy by eating Seafood at least twice a week.
