Capt’n Dave’s Seafood Market

November 4, 2014
Hi Everyone!!

Alrighty everyone! I hope everyone is doing just fantastic! We had a really nice weekend this past week and we really appreciate everyone coming by to visit. Sunday wasn’t as busy as normal but it seems like every time the Cowboys start their game on Sunday’s at 12:00 it interrupts our business but if the game starts at 3:00 or later, everyone seems to come by to stock up for the game. It’s the same as it’s been for 22 years so it’s not a surprise to see it still happens on each game.

We slowed down on making Seafood kabobs but they are still available if anyone is interested in having us make them for you.

It looks like the weather is going to be really nice after we get through the next couple of days with this wonderful rain we’re experiencing. After the rain it looks like a little cooler weather and dry. We hope to see many of you this week and if you are looking for anything special, just let us know.

We will have Shark and Wahoo this weekend. Something that we ran out of and has very hard  to find but I finally located it through one of my reliable suppliers and the order will be arriving on Friday. So, if you been looking for Shark, I will have it.

Wahoo is a wonderful fish that we get from Hawaii and if you are not familiar with this fish, it is also called Ono. In Hawaiian, Ono means Sweet and delicate. And trust me, it is an unbelievably flavorful fish and you’ll come back for more. It’s more meatier than flakey and it best on the grill.

So, as I do every week, I try to encourage everyone to grill out and be with friends and family. Great time to show off your grilling technics.

Also, being that the cooler weather is starting to be with us, I am now carrying fresh Gulf Flounder fillets on a daily basis. Brought it in this past weekend and sold out completely.

We received another shipment in this morning and it’s absolutely beautiful. Not too many fish can be stuffed with crab meat stuffing and taste as good as Stuffed Flounder.

Come in and I’ll show you the best way to prepare it.

If anyone is not familiar with all the items we stock, we would love to have you drop by and check it out first hand.  We have a large wall display showing all the items we stock on a daily basis. We also add to the board as we bring in new items. So, if there is something you are having a hard time finding, please let us know, I will be more than happy to locate your product and we can add it to our inventory.

If it’s an unfamiliar product or our suppliers tell us that there is no request for it, this will be something we have no control of. But I will do everything I can to bring it in for you.

Please visit our web site:

If you are looking for snacks or hors d’ oeuvre’s for the games this weekend, we always have freshly cooked 16/20 count Peeled and deveined cocktail shrimp(slightly seasoned). We also have Cajun Crab Dip(w/real crab meat) which everyone thoroughly enjoys and we also have Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Etoufee, and Shrimp Creole that many of our customers love. These come in 30 oz tubs or 4 lb trays. And if you really want a treat, you have to try out my special Hot Smoked Alaskan Sockeye.

We also have Crawfish boudin, Pork and rice boudin, Aligator sausage, Andouille sausage, Crawfish sausage, Hot Louisiana sausage for a great half time treat during the game.

When I find new seafood items that I know my customers will enjoy, I will always keep you informed. The list of all or most of all our items that we stock has become very lengthy and it is much easier viewing all of it on the web page. I will add the new items to our seafood list as we are sure we will keep them in stock. So, please visit the web site when you need to see a full list of our products.

**New items added to our list:

Breaded Gulf Oysters: 8.99 lb (approx 18-25 per lb)(cornmeal and flour)

Southern Style Hand breaded Catfish fillets: 8.49 lb(4 oz fillets w/cornmeal)

Breaded 13-15 per pound shrimp: 11.99 lb

Halibut cheeks: 20.00 a lb. (Limited quantities) Approx 1 lb packages.

Louisiana Hot Sausage: 7.99 lb (1 lb pkg)
With the Halibut season coming to an end around November 15th, I recently secured enough Halibut after the season closes so we have enough Halibut to keep us stocked for two to three months. Prices have gone sky high on Halibut over the past couple of months and the current cost in Dallas from all the suppliers is more than what I sell it to my customers. This is why I do the things I do to keep the cost down as much as I can because the suppliers do not look at it this way.

I know many customers price check when you start seeing seafood prices climbing. As most of my customers know, I will bend over backwards to secure special items such as Sockeye, King Salmon, Halibut and Sea bass as long as I can purchase these items at a cost to keep my cost down for my customers.

My goal is to keep the cost down and to continue searching and acquiring the highest quality that I can for my customers.
We have been carrying fresh oysters as long as we have been in business. Over the last couple of weeks, the heat on the coast has been effecting the shelf life on oysters in the shell. I decided to wait on bringing in more oysters in the shell until the weather starts to cool off. When the cooler weather comes in, the oysters are at there highest quality.

We always have fresh shucked oysters.

Please keep up with my newsletter to be updated every week.
We are always looking for great recipes to share with our customers so if you can send us your special recipe, I’ll be happy to post it for all of our customers to enjoy.

Every week, we are making Seafood Kabobs for our customers. If you would like us to make any special for you, just give us a call or come on in and select the seafood you want to be skewered. We have a great selection for you to choose from. It only takes a few minutes and we can have them ready by the time you come to pick them up or we can make them for you while you wait. Remember, whatever the cost is in our seafood case that you select is what you pay. No prep charges just select what you want and we price it out on how much you want on the skewer.

I hope we can make some for you.

Great for the games!
