  1. I use to get my fresh catfish filets at fishmongers but they’re no longer selling raw foods. I like my catfish filets kinda small not like the huge ones you find in the grocery stores that are fatty and fishy taste. I’m looking for a new market to get catfish filets. What do you have? Thanks and hopefully looking to do business with you.

      • Sheila, I don’t keep it in stock on a daily basis but’s it’s available with a day’s notice. I always have U.S. farmed catfish fillets in stock though.
Most customers prefer the fillets but I can get whatever you want. If you are in need of any this week or whenever, please call the store so there won’t be any delays in returning your messages. 972-424-3474.
And if you need prices, I’ll need to know how much you need, what size and when you would like me to bring them in.
        Thanks!
        David

  2. Is there any way possible to order live Caribbean Land Crab. I buy live blue crab quite frequently but would really like to order the vegetarian ones found in the Caribbean and South Florida?? I am looking for a half bushel or more.

    • Amy, all of our shell on shrimp are from our Gulf. We carry five sizes and they range from:
      36-40 ct(9.99 lb)
      21-25 ct(12.99 lb)
      16-20 ct(14.99 lb)
      10-15 ct(15.99 lb)
      8-12 ct(17.99 lb)
We offer 1.00 off per lb if you purchase 5 lbs at a time.
We keep a very good inventory on all these sizes.
Hope we can help you. Please come by and visit.
We are open seven days a week.
      Take care!
      Dave

      • Jeff, I am so sorry I didn’t get back to you quickly, we had a massive weekend and I never got a chance to respond. I hope you got a chance to come by the store on Saturday.

        Thanks!

  3. Do you ever have any Whitefish like they serve in Michigan. I had some in a diner in Mackinaw and it was absolutely the best. Halibut is a good whitefish of sort, but no like true Whitefish.

    Thanks

    Jim

    • Hey Jim! Occasionally the Great Lakes Famous White Fish is available for us. It’s pretty rare though. When I do hear about it, I will definitely mention it on my web site and also my newsletter that I do every Monday. If you want, I can add you to my email newsletter program.
      It goes out tonight.
      Thanks!
Also, I do carry Walleye and also Haddock.
I’ll also see if it’s available any time soon.
      Thanks!
      David

  4. Hi. How much are your live crawfish per pound? Also do you sell seasoning for crawfish boils? Thank you so much.

    • Christina, Prices are indicated in my web site every week on Monday’s. Large field runs: 3.25, Graded and washed are 3.50 and #1 selects are 4.00.
Sorry I didn’t see your email. I always suggest calling the store if you don’t get a quick response from me. We are so busy and sometimes I can’t get to the comments on a daily basis.
      Thanks!
      David

    • Rob, if they were readily available I could bring them in. We recently had an oil spill from an Oil barge tanker outside of Galveston and it destroyed the oyster beds, crab and shrimp industry. So we have to revert to Louisiana to get our oysters, shrimp and crab. I’ll need to know how much you need and when.
Prices from Texas were 5.99 lb. I really don’t know the price on Crab from Louisiana. When you let me know, I will follow up on it for you.
      Thanks!
      David

      • Thanks for the reply! Well I’m originally from Maryland and we typically buy them by the dozen. Ideally 2-3 dozen of your largest crabs is what I would be interested in. I’m not sure what that would weigh though

      • Rob, I have a buddy in my neighborhood that asked me this weekend if I could find someone to split a bushel he would take some. He said if I couldn’t find anyone, he would take the whole bushel. On the average, a dozen usually weighs 5 lbs. I haven’t even checked the price lately and it could be less by getting a bushel. whatever it is, it shouldn’t be more than 5.99 a lb. So, looking at a max of three dozen, it would be around 15 lbs at 5.99 lb. around 90.00.
Let me know if you want me to work on it for you because my friend will take them anytime.
        Thx,
        David

    • I keep in stock on a daily basis: 36-40 ct, 21-25 ct, 16-20 ct, 10-15 ct, U-12 CT.(ALL GULF SHRIMP, SHELL ON AND HEADLESS) OUR GULF.
I also have peeled and deveined shrimp: 51-60 ct, 41-50 ct, 31-40 ct, 21-25 ct, 16-20 ct, 10-15 ct, 13-15 ct, 8-12 ct.(all imported and the first three sizes are tail off. The other sizes have tail on. Very high quality.
      I hope this helps.
      Take care,
      Dave

  5. Do you carry REAL dover sole? The ones from the belgian/english north sea?

To me hands down, THE best tasting fish in the world…there is nothing else like it.

    • Alright, I just called my supplier and here is the status of True Dover Sole: Our supplier always has it in stock. Frozen and in 25 lb cases.
This is one reason you won’t find it anywhere accept in high in restaurants. It’s a wonderful tasting fish but in Markets such as mine, we have an occasional customer who wants to know if we can get it. So keeping a 25 lb case in stock would probably eventually go to waste.
So, my supplier just mentioned to me that they have Fresh Dover Sole arriving next week, the fish weigh approx. 18 to 20 oz. The fresh come in 10 lb cases and there is only about 10 fish in a case. If this could work for you, I would be more than happy to bring it in for you. The cost on Fresh Whole Dover Sole is: 18.60 a lb. But you have to take the full case. I truly don’t have any use for the product. Mainly because most people wouldn’t know what to do with it.
Let me know if you are interested in it.
      Take care,
      Dave

    • Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Our Verizon server is being updated so I couldn’t respond to you at my store.
I have plenty of King Crab pieces. When you go to the store and if I am not there when you show up, just tell my employees that I ok’d you to get the pieces on the special price that I offered. 16.00 a pound.
      Take care and thanks!
      Dave

  6. looking for 20-25 pounds of frozen snow crab legs….discount for bulk orders? Need for 4th of July weekend. need 3-5 pounds of gulf shrimp as well…..

    • Your cost on Snow crab clusters will be 10.50 a pound. That’s your discounted price. Reg price is 11.99 lb. Shrimp you can get while you are there. 21-25 gulf shrimp is 13.99 lb.
If you order the snow crab, we carry the largest snow crab clusters that are available. There is one situation we need to work around though. I order on Monday’s and Thursday from the supplier who comes in on Tuesday and Friday. So, since the 4th falls on a Friday this year, the supplier is not coming here on Friday. They are out of Louisiana. You will have to reserve your order by Monday at 1:00 to be sure you get your order. I can get all the small snow crab you want in town but I only want the big ones in my store. So, if you are interested, please call the store and let my employees know that you and I have agreed on this price. They are not allowed to discount anything without my approval.
      Thanks!
      David

    • Johnnie, when you need a price, please call the store. (972-424-3474)If I am traveling, I don’t always have access to the internet.
I have been out of town on personal business.
Cost on Lump crab meat: 21.99 lb.
It’s much easier this way. Especially if you are planning something.
      Thanks!
      David

    • Allen,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
We are able to get blue crabs when our suppliers have them available.
Being that you mentioned Blue points, are you from the Maryland area?
The Blue Crab that we get has to be ordered in advance and there is a two dozen minimum when they are available.
We don’t know what the availability is until Friday’s. And if there is not enough orders for Dallas, they will not bring them up here.
Call us if you are interested and I will do my best to get them for you.
      Thanks,
      David

  7. Hi Capt.
I read in your news letter that you carried conch meat. Is it something you can buy a small amount of? What is the cost?
    Have a great week
    Thanks
    Laura

    • At the present time, I have 5 lb containers and there is no source to bring it in any smaller containers. The cost for the conch is: 13.99 lb.
I have showed many customers that you can run water over an end portion of the frozen block and thaw out and pull apart and keep the rest of the block frozen. Many of our customers plan a large batch of Conch chowder and freeze for later use. Or invite enough people to do a bunch of conch fritters.
We have it though. I hope we can help you.
      Take care,
      David

    • Well, we always have the Gourmet butterfly boneless Rainbow trout from Idaho but I don’t have any request for the whole head on and bone in.
Your cost on the boneless and butterfly trout is 12.99 lb.
If you want whole trout with head on, please let me know and how much and when you would like it.
I hope we can help you.
      Thanks!
      David

  8. Recently visited a nutritionist (I am,diabetic) who recommended I eat Barramundi as well as Salmon for the high Omega 3 content. Do you carry Barramundi? I would like to come get some if yo do. Thanks! JIM

    • Jim, I highly recommend any of our wild Alaskan salmon for the high Omega-3’s. We also have Alaskan Halibut, Rainbow Trout and many other fish that have high Omega-3’s. The Barramundi is a fish that you’ll see available in restaurants but is very rare to see in fresh markets. The fish is farmed raised in Indonesia and also in other areas around the world but mostly in the Asian areas. The fish is available but it’s one of the highest priced fish in the industry and I cannot tell you why it’s so costly especially being a farmed raised product. Your cost on this fish is 21.59 a lb and there is a 10 lb min. for me to bring it in. I have no use for this product at this price but if you want me to bring it in you will have to take all 10 lbs. This is the minimum that the suppliers will order it.
Please call me at the store and let me know if you want me to bring it in for you. The fish also freezes very well due to it’s fat content.
      Thanks!
      David

    • Larry, we keep in stock Islandic Cod and an Atlantic cod from the Boston area. Both fish are brought in frozen and we only display the Islandic Cod which are large boneless and skinless fillets. We can cut what ever you need from this fish. The other Cod I carry is an 8 oz boneless and skinless loin. We sell quite a lot of both. Most of our customers who stock up with frozen fish know the different varieties we carry fresh and frozen.
On weekends, we bring in the fresh cod from the northeast Atlantic. If you want some, please call us to make sure we have it coming in since it is a special order from our suppliers.
We don’t have Rock Fish, It use to be one of our most popular fish in my store but due to this fish being used as a substitute for Red Snapper for years, I believe it got fished out to a point where it’s only offered frozen. I never see it being offered fresh from our suppliers.
It is available though in frozen fillets.
If you are interested, please call the store as sometimes it takes me a few days to respond on the internet.
      Take care and thx,
      David

  9. Hey Dave,

We met on St George Island beach back in August! You guys had rented a Tahoe and drove down the same time we did. My son’s 18th birthday is coming up and he wants to try Thrasher Shark. Do you ever get it in buddy? I’ll be picking up 4-6 LBS of that king crab too!
Is was great too meet you brother…. see you in a week or so!

    Jason

    • Hey Jason, great to hear from you. We usually keep shark in stock all the time. I just spoke to my supplier in Louisiana and I have Thresher shark coming in tomorrow. Thresher only comes available in real nice 8-10 fillets. They are frozen and vacuumed sealed and I sell the heck out of it. During shark week this year, I bought out every supplier and sold out. So, there should be no problem for you to pick some up. If you will call me and reserve what you need by Monday of the week you want to pick up your order up that would help me to make sure I have enough for you in stock. During the week, I keep a 10 lb case in stock. Also, we always have King Crab legs in stock, the big ones.
Hope to see you, refresh me with an introduction when I see you. Take care and I look forward to seeing you.
      David

    • Tammy,
If you can, I need you to tell me what a half of bushel is to you so I won’t be guessing. We sell our oysters by the dozen or by the 100ct Boxes.
If you can call me tomorrow at the store, 972-424-3474, I can give you information that my supplier will be telling me tomorrow morning. I stopped bringing oysters in over the last 4 weeks due to the heat and quality of oysters. We brought in a couple cases this weekend and they were absolutely beautiful as far as oysters go, clean and perfect. So, please call me Tuesday(Tomorrow) and I can give you an update on what I am bringing in this weekend.
I have to have an order by Thursday, no later than 1:00 P.M.
      Thanks!
      David

  10. Hi there, what’s your price per pound for raw medium gulf shrimp (for gumbo)? Also, do you have bags of those mini freeze dried shrimp for making a fish stock? Thanks in advance!

    • John, we keep in stock a 41-50 ct Peeled and deveined w/tail off. we also sell fish stock and I don’t carry the dried shrimp. and this is our most popular size for gumbo. your cost: 10.99 lb.
We also have a 21-25 shell on Gulf shrimp but you have to peel them.(13.99 lb)
Please call the store as we are tremendously busy and I am not able to reply quickly on the computer.
      972-424-3474
      Thx,
      David

    • We always have Seabass. We carry the full sides(3-4 lbs) and they are very nice. 22.99 a lb. w/skin on. we can take the skin off if you like.
Black cod is a special order only and is around 20.00 a pound. I don’t get a lot of request for it but is available.
I have one other customer who would like some and if you are interested, I can get some for both of you. Please let me know.
      Thanks!
      David

    • I can get Monkfish any day of the week but I do not stock it because there is very little request for it. I believe the price on it is around 12.99 lb. If you want some you will need to call my store and reserve it but for me to get it in, I will have to bring in the minimum order that our supplier requires and that’s 10 lbs. I cannot do it if you only want one piece. I have no need for a lot of extra that I would be stuck with. If you can get 3-4 lbs, that could work for me. I can freeze the rest after vacuum sealing it. Concerning Red Ruby Shrimp. Its available in Fla. but almost impossible to get in Dallas.
      Store number is 972-424-3474
      Thanks
      David

    • We do not keep any head on shrimp in stock unless we have a request for it. I get them in on Tuesday and Friday from our Louisiana supplier.
The only thing is, is that there is no such thing as Fresh Shrimp available in Dallas. And you actually don’t want to believe anyone if they tell you that it’s fresh because they cannot tell you when the shrimp was caught. Just because the shrimp was not frozen does not mean that it’s fresh. All of our shrimp are caught during the week and processed and flash frozen for true freshness. You’ll need to visit our store to see the high quality that we carry.
We look forward to seeing you!
      Thanks!
      David

    • Yes we do. Always frozen. Never fresh tails. I don’t want them. There is no telling how old fresh lobster meat is.
We keep three types of tails in stock. We have 1- 1/2 lb tails in stock at 27.00 a lb.
      Thanks!
      David
